Volume on Mixed Performance of the NSE

 

In the last 23 trading sessions, the Composite NSEASI Index of the market had experienced a more down market with huge volume than the up market with high volume of transaction. As we look at the volume of shares traded on the down or up days that is above 300 million shares transacted on each of these trading days, below is the comparison table.

As shown, volume on the down market days are more than the volume on up market days in last trading period under consideration.  Looking at this oscillating market of 7 down market with high volume and 5 up market with high volume, it signals a recovery market after prolonged bear market that is characterized with fear of unknown as no economic policy to point direction and weaken macro-economic numbers.

In general, the number of up markets is higher recording 13 days to down market having 10 days.  But we are looking at the volume which is very important in determining market direction and price action. This suggests that, if you are looking for big volume on the up days in the recent market moves as an indication of bull transition, it has given a direction but time and events would tell for how long this would last.
