NGX Index May Sustain Oscillating Posture On MPC Outcome, Ahead TB Auction

Image
Market Update for November 23 Volatility continued on the Nigerian Exchange on Tuesday as the benchmark index short-lived previous day’s positive outing, turning slightly negative to extend its sideways movement on a low traded volume. Market breadth was, however, positive as members of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Monetary Policy Committee concluded their final meeting for the year, voting unanimously to retain all policy instruments unchanged, in what they said is to sustain the ongoing economic recovery, despite various headwinds like the fear of COVID 19 resurfacing in some climates and the oscillating oil price at the international market. The mixed sentiments and signals at the end of Tuesday trading indicates investors buying interest in blue-chips, especially those that had suffered losses in recent time but have a high possibility of dividend payout. Profit taking activities continued in some tickers ahead of midweek Treasury Bills’ primary market auction that will spac...

What Smart Investors and Traders are doing Secretly Now

It is Ambrose Again… One of the greatest discoveries is that humans can alter and shape their lives by changing the attitude of their minds. William James The question that looms large is why do few traders and investors get the best out of the market while so many struggles. Well, it is simply attitude and knowledge.  It is your attitude towards the market that will determine your returns. That is, if you bargain a kobo with the market then you should expect a Kobo or less back. It is a mathematical law According to research, most investors and Traders take themselves for granted. You don't push yourself hard in other to achieve your goals and for some strange reasons, you believe that some investors having the same 24hours, 7days and 52 weeks like you have the divine right to be successful than you in the market or better than you. This is as a result of the fact that you are always on the defense. However, there is no divine right to profit out of the market. It is about ...

Cautious Trading On NGX, Amidst Low Volume, As Pullbacks Offer Fresh Prospects

Market Update for November 18 Profit-taking and selloffs continued on the Nigerian Exchange Thursday as the benchmark index closed lower, thereby extending its loss for the second successive session on a low traded volume and negative breadth. Also, sectorial indexes recorded a mixed performance as players continue digesting the emerging positive macroeconomic data. These positive economic data and better than expected corporate earnings are a plus for the market, notwithstanding the likely outcome of the Central Bank of Nigeria Monetary Policy Committee meeting next week, just as the nation’s GDP has maintained consistent recovery to reveal potentials in the different sectors of the economy as a guide to investors while positioning for the new year. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has released Nigeria’s Q3’21 GDP numbers, revealing a real GDP growth of 4.03%. The growth in the nation’s Q3’21 output largely reflected a sustained recovery in the non-oil sector, which grew 5.44% ...

Market Update for the Week Ended November 12 and Outlook for Nov 15-19 The market tends to reward discerning investors with a plan and the patience to wait for the right moment when such come true. There are three important things to consider when preparing for your trading days and the New Year:  Have your expectations of what a market could do on the day you want to trade; know your plan in advance when the market follows your expectation, or when it doesn’t; and finally, execute your trading or investing strategy when the market follows your plan, and be flexible and change when your expectation proves wrong. We envisage a mixed trading pattern due to bargain hunting activities in dividend-paying stocks amid intermittent profit-taking activities. That notwithstanding, we advise investors and traders to position in fundamentally sound stocks with positive technicals and sentiment, since the market’s fundamentals and liquidity continue looking up, with oil price trading abo...

Mixed Trend Ahead, As Investors Reposition On Pullback, Seek Value Stocks

Image
Market Update for November 2 The seesaw movement on the Nigerian Exchange resurfaced Tuesday as the market witnessed another mixed and volatile session to reverse Monday’s negative outing on a positive outturn and buying interests in equities that recently suffered losses on profit-taking despite their impressive corporate earnings. The mixed sentiment and prevailing low traded volume in the market reflect the declining momentum and the presence of sellers as institutional investors, fund managers, and others take time to analyze and digest the corporate earnings released so far in the just concluded earnings reporting season, amid portfolio rebalancing and repositioning which will impact positively or negatively on some stocks. Technically, the NGX index’s action remains strong in the face of the up and down movements, profit-booking, and low transaction volume, as revealed by momentum indicators like ADX at 54.26 points against the previous day 52.83, and money flow index of 71.73 po...

Volatility May Continue, On Mixed November Outlook, Price Corrections, Pullbacks

Market Roundup for October Transactions on the Nigerian Exchange for the month of October, which is the earnings reporting season, mostly of third-quarter scorecards, closed on a positive note, with the basic indicators recording their highest monthly gain since February 2021. Specifically, the composite NGX All-Share index gained 1,817.43 basis points on positive buying interests, the better-than-expected corporate earnings, and inflow of funds searching for higher real returns amidst the relatively low-interest rates, inflationary environment, and the unclear direction of yields in the fixed income market. The rates for FG and corporate bonds, including the just-concluded Treasury Bonds primary auction fell to 6.99%, while the 364-day tenor stood at 7.25%; well below the inflation rate for the month of September stood at 16.38%. Recall that the nation’s GDP has been on the growth path for two quarters, and rose to 5.01% in Q2, according to data from the National Bureau of Stati...

Want to Start your Investment plan for 2022? then do this

Ambrose Here Again,  For all the talk about being goal-oriented, most people are not willing to dream big enough or they are not willing to start small enough. I may be harsh, but let's simply examine the facts. It seems to me that most goal-oriented investors and Traders around wishing at all times, "if only..." I suspect the problem that is not willing to dream big is the fear of failure. These investors and Traders are afraid to dream big because they fear disappointment that might follow should their grand dreams fail to come true. The problem with the second group, the ones who are not willing to start small enough is ego. Their big egos won't let them do the small thing that is currently within their power to do. These are the investors and Traders waiting for their "big transformation" in the market and government-perfect policies.  However, if you are yet to execute your big dream, you either fall into one of the above or both categories. In the qu...

The board of FBN Holdings Plc, on Saturday, said Otedola Olufemi Peter, former chairman of Forte Oil Plc (now Ardova Plc), and his nominee, Calvados Global Services Limited now own 5.07% of its issued and fully-paid shares, as of October 22, 2021.
